Privacy Policy

This policy explains how The Lazy Lama, operated by PT VAMOS CON TODO (Gang Sari Artha No.12, Pecatu, Bali 80361, Indonesia), collects and uses personal data when you book a stay, visit our hostels, use this website, or message us. We keep it short and honest, the way we run the hostel.

1. What we collect

• Booking data: your name, email address, phone number (when provided), nationality, stay dates, room type and reservation reference. This reaches us from our booking engine or from the booking platform you used (for example Booking.com or Hostelworld), through our property-management system.
• Messages: what you write to us by email, WhatsApp, Instagram or the chat on this website, so our team and our website assistant can answer you.
• Front-desk records: check-in and check-out times and payments collected at the desk.
• Reviews and consent forms you submit on this website, together with the time of submission. If you rate your stay 4 or 5 stars, the review form asks your agreement to show the name you typed and your star rating (nothing else) in the guest-reviews section of this website — agreeing is part of finishing that form. Untick the box before finishing, or email us any time, and they come off.

This website does not use advertising trackers. We use functional storage only (for example, to keep a chat session working).

2. What we use it for

• Managing your reservation and your stay (confirmations, check-in details, house rules, front-desk service). Legal basis: performing our agreement with you.
• Answering anything you send us, on the channel you used to reach us.
• Asking how your stay went. Where we are permitted to contact you, we may send a short post-stay email inviting you to leave a review.
• WhatsApp messages, only with your consent — see section 3.

We do not sell guest data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not add you to marketing lists.

3. WhatsApp

If you message us first on WhatsApp, we simply reply to your question. Phone numbers that reach us through a booking platform are not used to start WhatsApp conversations.

4. If you booked through a booking platform

When your reservation comes from a platform such as Booking.com or Hostelworld, we receive your contact details for one purpose: managing that reservation and your stay. We use them in line with that platform's terms and this policy, and we do not use them for unsolicited messages.

5. Who processes your data

We use a small number of service providers to run the hostel: our property-management system (Cloudbeds), our guest-relations platform (which handles our email, chat and guest records), our website host, and — when you consent to WhatsApp messages or write to us there — WhatsApp (Meta). Each processes data only to provide their service to us.

6. How long we keep it

Booking records are kept for as long as required for accounting and legal purposes under Indonesian law. Consent records are kept while the consent is active plus the time needed to prove it existed. Chat transcripts on the website are pruned automatically after a short period. You can ask us to delete your data earlier — see below.

7. Your rights

Under Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 27 of 2022) — and, for guests from the EEA/UK, the GDPR — you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and withdraw any consent you gave, at any time.

Write to hello@thelazylamastays.com and we will handle it personally. If you believe we have mishandled your data, you can also complain to your local data-protection authority.

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date at the top.
